The Godfather

The Godfather was released on March 24, 1972. It is a film about the Italian mafia in America. It shows what they will do to protect the family business at all costs. It has one three Oscar awards plus nineteen others and seventeen nominations. A very famous quote from the movie is "an off you can't refuse". The Godfather is number two on IMDB top 250 list.

In The Godfather there seems to be some religious similarities. The main one that really sticks out to me is how Don Carlone is like God to his family. The whole family revolves around him and if something happens to him there is trouble. The family also looks up to him. It is because he is the one in charge and does everything he can to protect the ones that are loyal to him.

When I watched The Godfather I had a really hard time trying to concentrate. I just had no interest in the film. I knew it was a classic and that I should watch it but I had better things on my mind at the time. The only thing I was really looking forward to was this scene where someone gets badly beaten up. I know, I know, I'm a disgusting, horrible person. I had someone tell me about that scene and I really wanted to see how bad she gets beaten. Let me just say this, that man should get the electric chair. I don't care if your in the mafia or if your the f-ing president, you don't beat a pregnant woman. What the h*ll goes through your mind while dong that. Not only are you harming your wife but your unborn child. Your harming that precious child. It is just a movie but still. It makes me so angry I just wanna kick that Carlo Rizzo in the nuts.

For me this move was defiantly not one of my top favorites. Maybe if I would have been able to concentrate better I would have liked it. My opinion otherwise I thought the movie was great for its time and had a good storyline. It is a classic so I give this movie 3.5 Godfather out of 5.

Hairspray

Hairspray was released in 2007. It has a huge cast of well know actors. They include John Travolta, Zac Efron, Amanda Bynes, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walker, Nikki Blonsky, Queen Latifah, and Elijah Kelly. Hairspray is a musical adapted from the Broadway musical Hairspray.

Hairspray is about a chubby girl in the 60's that believes in segregation and her dreams. She knows she can do anything that she puts her heart into. She is willing to go to jail just to allow black and white people to be able to dance together.

Hairspray is the type of movie that makes you just want to get up and dance. When Hairspray first came out I fell in love with it. I watched probably over twenty times just after I got it. Hairspray was different from other musicals that I had seen because it was placed in the 60's and was about how some people just didn't want to accept black people into there lives. The music in this movie was very up beat and fun. Plus Zac Efron is pretty good looking. I rate this movie 8 60's hairspray cans out of 10.

Grease

Grease was released in 1978. It stars the famous John Travolta and Olivia John Newton as Danny and Sandy. Grease was a musical about two teenagers from different groups falling love. Sandy would change for Danny and he would change for her.

A few years after Grease was released the producers thought that Grease 2 would be a hit. Although it starred Michelle Pfeiffer it flopped at the box office. It too was a musical but was not a huge success like the first.

When it comes to musicals I am quite the fan. Grease was one of the first musicals I ever watched and it is my favourite. I can watch it over and over and never get bored of it. I love the fact that it is based in the 50's and the music is great. Plus it helps how cute John Travolta is as the leader of the T-Birds. Hopefully one day I will get to see Grease on Broadway as it is one of my dreams. That shows how much I love the movie. I give this movie 5 Pink Ladies out of 5.

The Baby Formula

The other night while I was suppose to be doing homework I started to watch this movie with my mom. It was called The Baby Formula. It was about these married lesbian couple that wanted to have children. Now they didn't want an adopted child or one that came from a sperm donor. They wanted a baby that came from both of them. Now I know your thinking well that's impossible, well not in this movie. Anyways they get pregnant with each others babies. The movie goes through their lives while they are pregnant and shows the ups and downs they go through.

Not only is this movie Canadian but so are some of the actors. When this movie first came on the television I was quite intrigued by it. So mom and I decided to watch it and I'm glad we did. This movie was so amazing. It made me cry and laugh. It really shows that everyone wants the same things in life and no matter what you just want whats best.

I recommend this movie for everyone to watch. It really shows that even if you are gay or lesbian then you are no different from any one else. I really got emotional from this movie and the actors were amazing, especially Jessica Booker. She was so funny. She played the granny of Athena and its funny because she was completely different from her daughter Wanda. Granny would drink "ice tea" and say the funniest things. Oh I had a good laugh. I give this movie a rating of 10 drunk Granny's out of 10

Robert Pattinson

Robert Pattinson was born on May 13, 1986 in London, England. He is well known for his role as Edward Cullen in the Twilight Saga. He was also in two of the Harry Potter movies; Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. He went from nothing to something practically over night.

Now you may think with all this talk about Robert Pattinson that I would like him, however that isn't the case. I find Robert Pattinson a horrible actor and an awkward person. I once seen him on Much Music and he seemed so out of place. His expression on his face was as if he didn't know what to do and his body language was very closed. You could tell he felt uncomfortable, either that or he is just really weird. When I watched Twilight the only thing I could think of was how girls my age could find him so good looking. Everything about him is off including his acting and apparently some people find this man to be sexy, well guess what, you should go to the eye doctor. He looks a little bit above average if he's lucky.

I guess if you like Robert Pattinson and he is your favorite actor in your favorite movie I'm sorry for my opinion on him. I'm sure you find this offensive but its my opinion. Robert Pattinson sucks. I just can't stand him or any movie really that he is in, especially the Twilight Saga movies. My rating of his acting abilities is 1 ugly vampire out of 5.

Dr. Strangelove

Dr.Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

Now just the title is a mouthful. Dr.Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb is a great classic. This movie is a satire of the cold war. It was released on January 29, 1964. It is number thirty-one on IMDB's top 250 list. It is has very dry humor but if you understand it it is amazingly funny.

I loved everything about this movie. I loved the fact that one actor plays many characters. I love even more the way all the characters act. I could watch this movie again in a heartbeat. I do have to admit though I was quite skeptical of this movie when I heard its tittle and background. I thought it was going to be another one of those boring classics that you have to watch in class cause its in the curriculum. I was completely and utterly wrong. Everyone should see this movie. It was way too funny. One of my favorite parts of this movie is when President Merkin Muffley phones this guy Dimitry in Russia to warn him about the bombs. I could watch it over and over and still find it funny. I give this movie 10 Doomsday Machines out of 10.

Bambi

Everyone knows what the movie Bambi is about and how in the movie Bambi's mother gets shot...well if you didn't know you do now. Bambi is a very classic Walt Disney movie. It has been seen by many and it is remembered in most childhood memories.

We watched Bambi the other day in Media 20 class and it just wasn't the same. When I was younger I didn't realize the classical music in the background or the way the music enhanced a scene, heck or the way the some of the characters acted. To me it also seemed that the storyline was a bit jumpy. One minute it was spring then winter and Bambi hadn't even grown. He stayed the same size until his mother got killed then suddenly out of know where he grows up.

My favorite character of the whole movie has to be Flower. If you don't know who that is, its the skunk that Bambi calls a pretty flower. Now this may seem a bit odd to you but Flower is actually a boy. I know you are all like what the f-bomb but he is truly a guy. I am like 95% positive that the little skunk is gay. There is nothing wrong with being gay just to be clear but it does cause a bit of confusion for children. Growing up I always thought Flower was a girl and it completely changed my life when I found out that he was a boy. He like hits on Bambi. I thought this movie was great for a classic children's movie but I seriously think they should clear the air with the gay skunk. I give this movie 4 gay skunks named Flower out of 5.

Maltese Falcon

The Maltese Falcon was released on October 18, 1941. It is about a search of this "priceless" sculpture. There is a detective that helps to look for this "priceless" sculpture and comes across some shenanigans along the way. So in a nutshell that is the plot of the story.

For me this movie sucked A**. I hated everything about this movie and yes I understand that the sculpture is so called priceless but really would you go through that much stuff just for it? I personally believe that I wouldn't. It's a f-ing sculpture. I just don't get it. Would I kill for something that I desperately wanted?...well maybe but not for a sculpture. I guess everyone has their things they would die for so to speak.

Now for an actual rating I would have to give The Maltese Falcon 1 "priceless" sculptures out of 5. I just didn't like the movie. The only thing I liked about it was the character Joel Cairo. He was so hilarious. To me he seemed very touchy-feely and I just couldn't help myself from laughing. Other wise the movie was really boring and dragged out way to long. I think this was my least favorite movie out of the ones we have watched so far.
